For our client, this new build was more than just a house; it was a deeply personal project, rooted in family traditions and a strong connection to nature. Collaborating with her brother-in-law, the project’s architect, we brought her vision to life with a focus on creating a home that would serve as “The Gathering Place”.

Inspired by the warmth and hospitality of her grandmother’s home, this home was designed to be the family headquarters for gatherings as our clients grandmother’s home was for many years. Inspired by the property’s ocean-front setting, we blended clean, contemporary design with serene, nature-reminiscent elements. Positioned at the center of the home, the kitchen is adjacent to the dining and living areas and opens directly to the back patio, making it ideal for hosting and enjoying indoor-outdoor living.

Working within the architectural footprint, we expanded the kitchen to accommodate a chef-style layout with defined zones for cooking, prepping, and cleaning. A large island provides ample workspace for meal preparation and serves as a natural gathering point for family and friends. With space for up to three cooks at once, the layout encourages collaboration and connection during meal preparation.

To honor our client’s love for nature, we selected materials, colors, and textures that reflect the coastal landscape surrounding the home. Soft greens and warm wood tones evoke a sense of calm and tie the interior to the outdoors. In the kitchen, sand-toned porcelain pendant lights above the island bring a tactile warmth, reminiscent of the nearby beach, while in the primary bedroom, a dark textured wallpaper envelopes all walls creating a grounding and serene retreat. 

By crafting a space that is both serene and functional, we helped our client bring her dream home to life—one that seamlessly blends tradition, modern design, and a deep connection to family and the outdoors. This home serves as a timeless hub where meals are shared, memories are created, and the tradition of family gatherings continues for generations to come.
