Short version: Ashley de Boer Interiors is amazing! Long version: We bought a townhouse that needed help being turned into our dream home. To be clear this was not a small project - we needed new everything! Although we had ideas of what we wanted, we didn’t have a vision of what the townhouse could be. Ashley, and her team, gave us confidence right away that she could help our young, active family turn the dated townhouse into our dream home, despite a tight budget and even tighter timelines. Not only was Ashley able to understand our family's aesthetics and expectations, she helped us visualize, and eventually implement exactly what we needed. Her team treated us exceptionally well, with clear communication the whole way through. Ashley worked exceptionally well with our contractors making the project run smoothly from the start. Ashley and her team recently completed a full-scale design for our new home build from floorplans to furniture. They perfectly captured everything we wanted in a home for our family. From the beginning Ashley took the time to ask questions and listen to how our family spends our time, what we valued, how we interacted, and she turned what she heard into functional floorplans that made sense for our family. We worked together on visualizing the flow of the home and considered every corner and inch of wall space. I can honestly say that every square foot in this home has been designed with a purpose. Ashley’s careful and detailed initial planning informed all decisions afterward.
From her mood boards for all rooms in the house we selected all finishings from flooring to windows and faucets to door colour. Our home has a large amount of built-in millwork, and the options can be endless. Ashley took my feedback and selected a manageable number of items to choose from and at no point did it ever get overwhelming! Her documentation on the final selection of finishings and materials was detailed and easy to understand. Many decisions go into building a house and sometimes those decisions have to change along the way, but her organized documentation eliminated any confusion for the builder – or for anyone – on what was expected.
Furniture selection is a process that I underestimated. The retail options are absolutely endless and without Ashley’s help we would likely still be trying to piece together a living room. She leveraged her relationships in the industry to find us exactly what we were looking for without an enormous wait. She created multiple floor plans for the different furniture options that were to scale to show how all the different options would fit in our space. It made choosing furniture easy and enjoyable.
I knew based on Ashley’s style that I would like whatever she came up with, but I had no idea just how perfect it would be for us. My husband and I both work from home so creating a space that we wanted to be in was very important. Everything is the right amount of polish and sophistication but with the practicality that our family needs. It feels like a home.
Ashley was always quick to respond, looked into things if she didn’t know the answer, and very honest in communication. She maintained an excellent working relationship with our builder which meant I was able to have 100% confidence in her to resolve any issues as they came up. Aside from being truly great at her job, she is a wonderful human being. She is kind, respectful and thoughtful. She has strong family values and incredible work ethic. I could not imagine a more perfect person to go through this process with.
